Site-specific installation in a three-floor staircase hall, exploring phenomena of auditory perception of space and movement in the vertical range.
The work runs continuously, integrated in the quotidian activity of this space for transit. Following an algorithmic behavior, two audio channels are diffused over an array of eight full-range speakers attached to the walls. Electronic impulses generated and sequenced in real time are the basic material used to activate and accentuate the space. Alternating with periods of inactivity, the installation goes through a range of similar but never totally identical cycles over the course of the day.
The work is based on software programmed with Max/MSP and a custom hardware system consisting of a multiple relay board and a version of IpsonLab microcontroller.
